This part of this page will be all about my growth as a fledgling meteorite hunter. As I hunt more I'll learn more and as I do I'll post it here on the site. Keep this page bookmarked in your favorites and visit often as it changes often. Every trip I take, and every meteorite I find will be posted on this page. If it gets to be to much for one page and starts to incroach on the other hunters I'll move it to it's own section of the site.

One Thing To Know About Me
Those of you who know me know the type of person I am. I created this site in my excitement an ehthusiasm for meteorites after receiving one for my birthday. I am officially addicted to theses little rocks from space and am learning as I go just like everyone else. As my knowledge grows about meteorites so will this site and the information on this site will get better and better. MeteoriteWatch.com is for you guys education and information and if I can entertain you a little bit in the process then all the better.

For me, it is to showcase my study, collection, and to promote MeteoriteWatch.com as a meteorite hunting and adventure site, as well as a place to come to learn more about meteorites. Some people can't get out and hunt as much as some of us who are fortunate enough to live in an area that is very good for hunting meteorites. Others just like to watch what's going on in the meteorite world, learn and live vicariously through others.

That's what Meteorite Watch is all about. As I grow as a meteorite hunter and adventurer I will share this knowledge and experience with you in the hopes that you too will become a better meteorite hunter as well. For those of you who don't hunt but have collections, hopefully the information here will help you in choosing meteorites to add to your collections and provide a little fun as well. I would like this site to be able to provide information to everyone in the meteorite world enthusiasts, hunters, collectors, and scientists alike. There's something for everyone here on MeteoriteWatch.com, art, photos, articles, videos, links, and even a discussion forum. Get involved!

Enjoy...

Happy Hunting!

My Meteorite Stick
This is my 3rd meteorite stick I made. The first two were of wood and relatively heavy duty. I wanted something a little lighter so I cut the head off a golf club and mounted a few magnets on the end.

Hunting A Dry Lake

Me Hunting Meteorites On Dry LakeI couldn't wait to get out and hunt so I called my best friend Mike Turber and asked him if he wanted to go meteorite hunting. This would normally be an odd request however I knew Mike would love to go because he is way into astronomy and always talking about science and "schooling" everyone about the galaxy. So when I asked him I knew he would jump at the chance to get out and go.

We spent the next day (only 6 hours) walking across a dry lake in southern California. Sometimes we got bored, and at other time we would brainstorm ideas on how to "better find" meteorites, saying stuff like "There has got to be a better way to do this."

After searching for many hours we came up with a few possibles which later turned out to be meteorwrongs. All in all we had a great trip. We went out across the desert and searched all over for rocks from space and even though we found none I can tell you we had fun.

The Old Woman Meteorite

Old Woman MeteoriteMe and the Old Woman. Uh... I mean the Old Woman Meteorite!

What a cool rock. the picture does not do it justice. It's an awesome meteorite. Now that I've seen this one up close now I have to go see the Willamette meteorite.

New York anyone? ;)

Moon Rock!

This is not a meteorite. This rock is from the moon and was brought back from the surface of the moon to earth by the Apollo 11 crew. Technically since it did not travel through the earths atmosphere on its own and impact the earth it's not really a meteorite. It is I suspect, a very pricey lunar specimen. Wonder how much they want for it... ;)

My Collection of Meteorites

The Official MeteoriteWatch.com Meteorite Collection

Ok, You guys asked for it, and here it is. My meteorite collection in all it' glory.

Canyon Diablo Meteorite: Weight - 329 grams

The BIG BOY of my collection. This massive 329 gram Canyon Diablo was donated to my collection by Mike Miller from the MeteoriteFinder.com website. Mike has some great meteorites for sal on his site and has some really AWESOME specimens in his personal collection as well. YOu can view his collection and purchase meteorites from Mike at: www.meteoritefinder.com

#4 SikHote-Alin Meteorite: Weight - 61.5 grams

This is my first meteorite which my girlfriend got me for my birthday and the one that gave me the inspiration for this website. It's my favorite metoerite of course because of it's weight and feel, and if my girlfriend ever reads this page it's because she gave it to me. :) Great Asthetics!

#10 Gold Basin Meteorite: Weight - 3 grams

Bought this one for $20. It's got some good Fusion crust on one side and it's sliced to expose the other side which shows the nickel inclusions. Nice meteorite for sure but it might not be a Gold Basin. What do you think? UPDATE: This might not be a Gold Basin at all. It seems the dealer I purchased it from might have been mistaken. Hmmm... What do you think? SEND EMAIL

#11 Canyon Diablo Meteorite: Weight - 3 grams

What can be said about this meteorite that hasn't already been said. This specimen isn't quite that impressive but it's my first Canyon Diablo. The largest piece of the meteorite found is the Holinger Meteorite on record as being 639 Kg. View The Photo Here

Moldavite: Weight - 1 gram

This is a cool piece of moldavite. Moldavite is a kind of Tektite. It is unknown exactly how this mineral is formed but experts agree it is most likely caused by the impact of a meteor with the planet.

#1 Franconia: Weight - 130 grams

This was my largest specimen and on of my best pieces so far. Very nice! I love it... Thanks Mike! (Purchased from Mike Miller at www.meteoritefinder.com)

This glass like mineral is high in silica content and is found over approximately '10% of the earths surface' according to "The Geology of Australia By David Johnson" This particular speciman looked cool enough to me so I bought it.
