Meteorite Photos
World
Museum of Natural History La Sierra University:
Ok, I promised I would post my photos and I
got caught up building my meteorite
links page but here's a sneak peak at some of the images.
Most of them are un-named and there's no information on weight
or size or location of fall. In the meantime enjoy them while
I finish editing all the images.
Oh
yeah, and some Lybyan Desert Glass, with one speciman made
into an ancient cutting tool. The person at the museum said
there was even a spear made from a nickel-iron (View it here
Meteorite
Spear) and that it had been stolen from the museum about
6 months earlier. I saw the spear-point on the museums website
before visiting and was looking forward to seeing it in person
and getting photos. Unfortunately some bozo had to steal it
and now everyone else loses out on the chance to see a real
relic. It would be great if the guy had a change of heart
and turned it in or sent it back to the museum so that others
could enjoy it. It's probably some kid that has no idea what
he has or it's cultural and intrinsic value.
I'll
try to get more information like size, weight, name, location
and such but it'll take some time to go through all my photos
and write descriptions for them. There are many iron meteorites,
a pallasite, and 3 Canyon Diablo meteorites that are about
3-10 kilos each (guess) and a few sikhote-alin's as well.
Can you pick them out? :)
