About MeteoriteWatch.com

Welcome everyone to the "New & Improved" MeteoriteWatch.com
After almost a year of study, research, hunting, and adventure, I've learned a few things about meteorites and the meteorite community as a whole. I decided to change the direction of MW to serve as a hub, or central portal for meteorite enthusiasts all over the world. This I think will better serve the meteorite community and bring more people into collecting and hunting, increase scientific knowledge about meteorites, and bring meteorites more into the mainstream. I made it for a fun and exciting place to congregate, discuss and share knowledge. Simple as that!

I noticed something a few months into my meteorite obsession. There is not a central location which acts as a hub that is strictly devoted to information about meteorites that was particularly fun. Granted there are some sites that have great information but they are kind of limited when it comes to interactivity. People will lose interest fast if they can't take part in something. Meteorite enthusiasts seem to be scattered throughout the community and choose lists, and forums they feel comfortable with and stay there, never really venturing out much. This tends to stagnate things a bit. People will migrate over to the next best forums or list where it's a bit more exciting from time to time. Though once that excitement wears off though people will meander from list to list looking for more exciting discussions and topics.
Enter MeteoriteWatch.com. I originally started MW to showcase my meteorites, and my growth as a fledgling meteorite hunter and enthusiast. All that's changed now.
MW is a new site, and a new way for meteorite entusiasts to meet, discuss events, exchange information, and just plain have fun. You won't find some slow, boring community, with nothing happening here. MW watch is all about bringing the best and most recent meteorite information to the forefront and posting it for all to see. The more information the better. Share what you know about meteorites with others. Tired of all the bickering on other lists and forums? MW is about community and not petty BS.
Most people will I think respect that stance and most people in this community have good things to contribute and lots of knowledge for the new hunter or collector. Meteorite hunting, collecting, is growing. There are new hunters and enthusiasts everyday. Way more than when I got into this industry only a year ago. If you're a newbie or veteran, old timer or greenhorn, then you've come to the right place. Join MeteoriteWatch.com today.
Have fun and Keep it simple!

Eric Wichman
